Description:
This beautiful tea and coffee service consists of a coffee pot, a tea pot and a milk jug. Made of pewter, the service is designed in very a stylish manner - the signature characteristic of Jugendstil or German interpretation of Art Nouveau.
It was crafted by Gerhardi & Co - the famous German Jugendstil pewter objects manufacturer. In the year 1800 Richard Gerhardi started the firm GERHARDI & CO in Lüdenscheid. From 1888 Carl Steinweg made the firm very productive. From 1902 onwards, the firm made several beautiful designs and cooperated with great names in that time such as Peter Behrens, Maurice Dufrène (France) Albert Reimann, Albin Müller, Joseph Maria Olbrich, Paul Haustein and Gottlieb Heintel (Berlin).
The decors for the design - the stylish relief leaves and berries - were inspired mostly by floral French Art Nouveau, the German Jugendstil version of Art Nouveau. has yet to appear in early 1900s.
The mark at the bottom reads "Gerhardi & Co 1769". Condition: very good to excellent with very minot unavoidable in pewter, no breaks, tears or repairs.
The coffee pot is 8.5" tall to the top of the finial.
